POST HOME PROJECT

The Lee-Pearson Post 1786, VFW was established in 1931 and has been continuously serving the Manhattan area ever since. Post 1786 currently has over 300 members, with thousands of veterans and active-duty service members in the area that are eligible for VFW membership.

To better serve and support veterans in the Manhattan area, Lee-Pearson Post 1786 is seeking a new building that will enable us to significantly expand our outreach and provide more comprehensive services to the veteran community. This multi-use facility will allow local veterans to gather for meetings and events, and to offer and receive peer support. Additionally,  this space will serve as a community center for various events such as weddings, company parties, etc. This facility will include office space, VFW and VFW Auxiliary meetings and veteran’s services, and an event hall that can be reserved and utilized by community members.

Although a dedicated bar or canteen will not be provided, VFW leadership will offer flexibility for renting groups to arrange alcohol service for their events, subject to securing appropriate licensing and following all local and federal laws. This decision was made in order to keep costs down and for the VFW to be fully welcoming and supportive of all veterans, recognizing that many are in recovery. It is expected that this new, dedicated location will increase visibility and awareness of the VFW in the community, expanding their outreach and services to local veterans who may not currently be aware of our presence in the area.

We are asking the community for help with this project as our goal is $500,000 to purchase land and a building. Whether a cash grant, helping us obtain property to build / or renovate, or making any donation will go a long way in helping us to achieve this goal. We are a 501(c) 19 veterans organization, so all donations to VFW Post 1786 are tax deductible charitable contributions. All donor names will be prominently and permanently displayed inside the building. We have several levels of donor recognition with other opportunities for large donors available.

We have successful fundraisers each year, solely dedicated to the building fund, but we need the community's help.
